REDOUBT BAY BEAR VIEWING

A natural history day tour with the opportunity to view Alaska’s brown and black bears in their natural habitat. Fly seaplane southwest of Anchorage to the Redoubt Bay Lodge, located lakeside near the entrance of Lake Clark Wilderness Preserve. One there, guests receive an orientation on the bears and their environment from a bear expert. Then it’s off by boat to bear country! Your guide will assist in looking for bears fishing for salmon along the shoreline. Enjoy a chef prepared lunch back at the day lodge.

CHINITNA BAY BEAR VIEWING

Available May 16 – August 31, 2025

Located on the southern end of Lake Clark National Park and Preserve, Chinitna Bay is home to an abundant brown bear population that come to the bay to feed on the protein rich sedge grasses, copious clams and fish the late summer salmon runs.  Listen as your expert guide shares tales of the resident bears and their families. You’ll be guided by foot and 4WD vehicle to where the brown bears are most active. Witness these magnificent animals digging for clams, sunning on the beach or feeding in the meadow. You’ll be amazed at the shear mass of the male brown bear and fall in love with the cubs as they wrestle and play.

KATMAI NATIONAL PARK BEAR VIEWING

Your fly-out Katmai Bear Viewing adveture takes you to Brooks Falls, where three bear viewing platforms connected by elevated boardwalks allow for close, unobstructed and extraordinary bear viewing in Katmai National Park and Preserve. In July, lured by spawning salmon, as many as fifty bears can be seen at once along the 1.5 mile Brooks River. While the Katmai bear viewing at Brooks Falls is self-guided, Katmai National Park Rangers provide an initial briefing upon arrival and are available throughout the park for questions.

LAKE CLARK NATIONAL PARK BEAR VIEWING

Depart from Lake Hood Sea Plane Harbor in Anchorage and fly over Cook Inlet and the tundra-covered hills of the western Alaska. Watch for the Chigmit Mountains and two active volcanoes before landing in Crescent Lake, Lake Clark National Park and Preserve.
