Whittier

Nestled at the head of the Passage Canal, Whittier serves as the gateway to Prince William Sound – home to spectacular glaciers and abundant marine wildlife. Established during World War 2 as a military supply port, today Whittier’s economy is comprised mainly of shipping and port-related jobs, fishing and tourism. While there may be less than 500 year-round residents, this tiny town plays host to a number of large cruise ships each summer.
